Fleming tried to have all of those men summoned to testify, but at the time, there was neither a legal requirement for a nobleman to appear in court. This story is the perfect example of how sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. Just as the crowd was shooting daggers at Fleming, Deerhurst dropped a shocking detail: He only courted Fleming because Worsley himself encouraged it.

Do you question the accuracy of a fact you just read? After watching the re-run of this story on TV I was interested in finding out what the book was like, I was not disappointed, I found it to be an extremely well written book and so easy to read, I was surprised that there was so much more to come after the court case, it seems a pity that the whole story wasn't told on TV as Worsley and Seymour certainly led interesting lives involving back stories of the french revolution, Bonaparte and the american war of independence, so many well known events and characters also mentioned that it was a very full story, I loved it. Marrying Fleming was just the beginning of Worsley’s aspirations.
. But when the party ended, their plan kicked into gear. Strap in: After the doctor’s testimony, the trial officially went off the rails. Can you see where this going? It turned out the neighbors had a lot in common. When Fleming gave birth to her daughter Jane, Lord Worsley claimed she was his, but Fleming knew better. Fleming’s gallivanting and affairs earned her enough notoriety that she inspired a bad girl character in one of the most popular plays of the period: Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s School for Scandal. I found this book engrossing and couldn't help muttering to myself "You couldn't make this up!" Worsley chose Divorce Package B, purely to punish Fleming for leaving him. Most husbands and wives low-key hated/at best tolerated one another, but here was this married couple making goo goo eyes at each other.
