AWS cloud migration

The Bahraini Government is committed to modernizing government information and communication technologies (ICTs) and therefore, in 2017 announced a cloud-first policy, encompassing the fact that all government ministries will fully run on public cloud (Amazon Web Services) by the end of 2019.

drie competed in a tender for the migration work and was consequently appointed 20 ministries in mid-2018. The ministries’ main goal was to move their infrastructure onto AWS as smoothly as possible without damaging their uptime or availability. The ministries have talented internal technology teams, but not necessarily the experience in AWS specific project delivery.

drie was brought in to assist with two main aspects of the project:

Project and change management across all relevant stakeholders. drie provided public cloud expertise and applied cloud migration best practices and methodologies to ensure a successful delivery.

drie also brought in AWS Engineering expertise and supported internal teams with technical and DevOps best practices. This helped to accelerate the project as well as ensuring all infrastructure was built to enable teams to be cloud-first going forward.
