I was staying a B&B Retreat near the restaurant and while I have passed the Ranch House on previous stays at the B&B, I finally made a reservation to dine there. In other words if you go to the New Ranch House expecting the Old Ranch House you will probably be disappointed but if you go to the New Ranch House for a good time, nice atmosphere and a decent meal you will receive value for your dollar. When you pull up the the restaurant it is very deceiving because it literally looks like a mom and pop roadside place. Never disappointed, the food and ambience is top notch. The quality of the food had just really deteriorated. The new RH is good, still very nice atmosphere and my impression is that the it is less expensive. Mistake! We sat in a quiet area, by ourselves nestled in some trees. The Ranch House was compared to the Inn of the Seventh Ray in Los Angeles (Topanga Cyn) in the reviews. Given the beauty of the property, I ended up spending maybe $100 MAX on decorations- a large portrait of my husband and I in the "menu display" as a welcome, glass bottles with fresh lavender (purchased that morning since it was the Lavender Festival in Ojai that weekend), and NOTHING. There are many better choices for Ojai. Fantastic food! I believe they are working with a wedding planner now, which has impacted the pricing since I got married there, but I imagine it is still one of the most cost effective places, while still providing absolutely every luxury you need.
