The r3 3300x matches the 7700k in performance? IT depends how much is the price difference between them. The 3600X just has a better cooler and in-game, the difference is miniscule. If not, go 3300X. I'm using a RX 570 4gb. 100% Upvoted. The quad-core Ryzen 3 3300X is still more than enough in most titles. I'm building a pc and basically need to pick a cpu.

If you just want to play current games,the 3300 will be fine; if you want to be "future proof" for the next 5-10 years or do lots of multitasking/creative work, I would spring for the 3600. But to answer your question Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 3 3300X are supposed to have very similar performance for gaming in the vast majority of games that are out right now.
I doubt it will matter much for at least the next year or two though. I personally would pick the 3600 over the 3600x depending on price, $10 difference I'd for with the 3600x better resale value. Since i save up some cash while going with the cheaper but very powerful R3 3300x i could manage a 2080 super or at least a 2070 super with better cooling since my current gpu choice has a cheap winforce 3x cooler.

For CPU heavy work like streaming, video editing, etc, you would probably be better off just getting the Ryzen 5 3600 now because those kind of tasks really benefit a lot more from higher core count processors. I am building a pc. If not, go 3300X.

The 2070 super performance margin is alike to a 2080 (not the super version), and if you are going to be doing more than just gaming, you want to try to have a cpu that has a decent core count. It operates at 3.8 GHz and can be overclocked to above 4.4 GHz.
