Microscope objectives are held in the optical path of the microscope via a nosepiece. In addition, this microscope includes a differential interference contrast (DIC) imaging and brightfield module with visible and near-infrared (NIR) LEDs for illumination, allowing the user to place micropipettes very accurately with the aid of NIR DIC; when used in concert with epi-fluorescence, physiological changes can be monitored without having to relocate the region of interest (ROI).
