This is for a story in a polytheistic society with competing moon gods (starts here). So, what does the Moon have that makes it such a tantalising prospect for space miners? It is established that impulse manifestations of convergence of walls in development workings are caused by terrestrial tides and geosphere energy transformations dependent on the Moon's and Sun's cycles. Either way, it means a more efficient use of fuel and energy that could potentially allow spacecraft to travel a lot deeper into space and lower the costs of space exploration activities. The reason the Moon has a greater effect on the Earth's tides is not the magnitude of its gravitational force over the Earth but because it's closer to us than the Sun.
